Privacy at Music Video Star
Effective September 28, 2026
- Your game progress lives in your browser. We also keep an anonymous copy of it on our servers, tied to a random player ID, not to your name.
- We use the Meta Pixel to measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta when you visit and a few game moments, like finishing the tutorial.
- We never give Meta your email or anything you type.
- If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the pixel never loads. You can also opt out below.
- The game is not for children under 13.
What the game stores on your device
Music Video Star runs in your web browser and saves its state in your browser's local storage on this device:
- Game progress: diamonds and cash, the moves, stars and décor you own, your tour stop, tutorial progress, and settings such as volume.
- An anonymous player ID: a random code created on your first visit. Its first six characters appear as "Player ID" in the game's volume menu. It is not linked to your name, and we cannot see who you are from it.
- How you arrived: if you came from a link that carries campaign tags (for example
utm_campaignor Meta'sfbclidclick ID), we save those tags, the time you first arrived, and the name of the website that sent you. - Your privacy choice, if you opt out below.
Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes all of it, including your progress.
What we collect on our servers
- Progress snapshots of the game state above, sent every so often while you play, with your player ID. Each snapshot includes basic device information: device type, platform, browser user-agent string, screen size, language and time zone. We use them to support players, fix problems and balance the game.
- Gameplay events, such as starting a song, finishing the tutorial, opening a shop or buying an in-game item. Each event includes your player ID, a per-visit session ID and the campaign tags above. These are recorded in our server logs.
- Song feedback: the thumbs up, meh or thumbs down you give a song.
- Error reports: technical details when something breaks, such as the error message and your browser and graphics hardware.
- Your email address, only if you type it in to claim the one-time diamond bonus. We use it to give you the bonus and to contact you about Music Video Star. We never share it with Meta or other advertisers and never use it for ad targeting. We keep it until you ask us to delete it, or until we stop running the game.
- Request logs: our hosting provider, Google Cloud, records each request to the site, including your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the time and the page requested. These logs, and the gameplay-event logs above, are kept for about 30 days.
We don't sell your information for money. Google Cloud stores this data for us as our service provider.
The Meta Pixel
The game page (musicvideostar.app) uses the Meta Pixel, a measurement tool from Meta Platforms, Inc. It helps us see which of our ads on Facebook and Instagram bring players to the game, and helps Meta show those ads to people likely to enjoy it. It does not run on shared-video links or any other page.
What is shared with Meta
- That you viewed the game page.
- These game moments, each with a random event ID: the first time you start a song, finish the tutorial, claim the email bonus (not the email itself), and finish your first song; when you open one of the in-game shops; and when you tap to buy, or buy, an in-game item. For purchases we send only the item's ID and whether it cost diamonds or cash. These are in-game currencies: no real money is involved.
- What the pixel collects by how it works: your IP address, browser and device information, and the address of the page, including any campaign tags or click ID in it.
- Two cookies the pixel sets on our site:
_fbp, a browser ID, and_fbc, the ad-click ID if you arrived from a Meta ad. If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram in the same browser, Meta may also connect these events to its own cookies.
We don't send Meta your email, name, phone number, or anything you type into the game. Meta handles what it receives under its own Privacy Policy. You can control ads on Meta's apps in your Meta ad preferences.
Your choices
- Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track are honored automatically. If your browser sends either signal, the Meta Pixel never loads. Nothing is sent to Meta.
- Opt out with the button below. Your choice is saved in this browser only. Opt out separately on each browser and device you play on. If you clear this site's data, choose again.
This setting takes effect the next time the game page loads.
Opting out stops the pixel. The game still works, and our own anonymous gameplay records (above) continue.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
If you live in California: we don't sell personal information for money. Using the Meta Pixel to measure and target ads may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act. To opt out, use the opt-out button above or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We treat Global Privacy Control as a valid opt-out request. You can also ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us (see Contact below). We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
Music Video Star is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
Deleting your data
Email us with your Player ID (in the game's volume menu) and, if you entered one, your email address. We will delete the progress snapshots and the email we hold for you. Log records expire on their own after about 30 days. To remove what's on your device, clear this site's data in your browser.
